Why Rolls-Royce cars are so expensive?

Reading Time: 2 minutes
    1. Reason 1: Many parts of Rolls-Royce are still handcrafted.
      1. Leather is tanned, stretched, shaped & stitched by master artisans and then complemented by handcrafted wood, carpets, and artwork inside the car.
      2. It takes around three weeks to handcraft the leather elements.
      3. Just fixing the roof-with-starry-ceiling*It is a series of fibre-optic roof lights that recreate the night sky. You can customise what you want your night sky to look like. takes more time than it takes to build the entire body shell of a MINI Cooper.
      4. The “Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament, pantheon grille, the V12 engine, the radiator, and many other parts are still assembled (if not wholly fabricated) by hand.
    2. Reason 2: Sophisticated manufacturing with some of the finest materials.
      1. The leather is sourced from the bulls (cows are not considered because they get stretch marks from pregnancy).
      2. And these are no ordinary bulls – they are the finest breed reared at high-altitude because, at high altitudes, insect bites are rare.
      3. Any blemishes on a bull’s body, even undetectable to the untrained eye, means rejection.
      4. The wooden parts inside a Rolls-Royce (RR) are made using wood from the same tree to ensure a seamless grain flow throughout the vehicle.
      5. There are at least seven layers of paint (primers, base, colour) on a Rolls Royce, and it can go up to 23 layers; this means the weight of the paint itself can go up to 45 kg.
      6. The RR logo on the wheels is self-righting, i.e., the RR will not rotate and will stay upright even when the wheels are rotating.
      7. Around 150 kg of acoustic insulation is added to the interiors to create an almost silent ride.
      8. Its tyre manufacturer, Continental Tyres, provides foam-filled tyres to RR for high-level noise reduction.
    3. Reason 3: Unlimited customisation.
      1. You can pick a colour from a palette of 44,000 colours, and if you don’t find the colour of your choice among these 44,000 shades, Rolls-Royce can create a colour of your choice.
      2. This colour will then be registered as your colour; if someone else wants the same colour, they can get it only after your permission.
      3. For one customer, Rolls Royce infused 1000 crushed diamonds into the paint to give a sparkly finish.
      4. The interiors have a scope of so much customisation that the car can become a personalised art gallery.
      5. Because of the unlimited customisation options, RR doesn’t discuss the base price.
      6. The price and the time to build your customised RR will depend upon your specifications and customisation requirements, and it can take up to a year to develop your personalised car.
