I see band call Euphoria at Roy’s Place in Winston-Salem. Roy’s Place small but nice. Cozy! I rike much. Remind me of bar in my home country. Dixie run place; she also nice!
Enyway, Euphoria start out first set with Nazareth “Hair
of the Dog”. Was more rike “Hair in Mouth” because not sing verry
well. Or maybe “Hair in Eyes” can’t see to play guitar. Verry sad.
Make me wish I have “Hair in Ears” Vocals thin. Guitar mediocre. And
where cowbell? Original song have cowbell! No matter - drummer have
trouble to sing and play drum same time. Sound rike 15 year olds ingarage band from 1978. Drummer play very goodly when not sing same
time. Bass player okee dokee, too.
Next song not bad but guitarist hide
behind many guitar effects - it crowd frequency range and make
sound muddy. Ooo rook! It Paulie Shore on guitar! Ha ha, just joke!
Normarry, I no waste money on beer while hear band for review but
not a waste when hear this group.
3rd song is cover of Velvet
Revolver song. Oh boy! I rike the Velvet Revolver. Oh, wait - they
hack up song. I start to feel verry bad because I realize I maybe
have sit here 2 more hours. Sound same as being trapped in tin can
with many bees, only more painful.
Bass player is solid.
I rike him. He play goodly. Band be much tighter if bass player anddrummer take cues from each other. I think weak link here is guitarist.
Band then play version of “Needle and the Spoon”. Again, guitarist
so loaded down with effects he make all songs sound same. Same same.
Their following seem to rike it, though. I think Euphoria following
and groupies consist mainly of girlfriends and handful of buddies. Roy’s
Place small but still have plenty room.
Now Euphoria startBlack Sabbath cover. I rike this one! Maybe getting better! Breaks
are good.
Next song is original by band called “The Difference
between You and Me". This by far best song tonight. Verry good song
structure and music performance not shabby, either. Not much stage
presence by band but music slowly getting better so I not complain.
I think I start dance but then remember I am big spaz, so stay sit
down.
Guitar player put on big inflatable suit. Ha, funny!
Rook a rike big fat Sumo wrestler! I entertained. Inflatable suit
never disappoint.
“Dirty Deeds” (done dirt cheap) okay.
Not much to say about. But cover of “Iron Man” kick ass! Inspiring
job. People in club get excited - that good sign. I so happy I cheer
much loud.
All in all, band maybe 6 on 1-10 scale. All3 original songs they play actually cool catchy music with unique
sound. Why Euphoria not play whole set original music? I think it
go over big with fans. Maybe then they sell more CD’s and get record
deal. Later we would see on the MTV and they all be big time happy-go-lucky
good-time Charlies! But for now, I think maybe band have off night.
It happen sometime. I still go see them again.
